Bridget and Cristian: Engagement

As I have gotten to know Bridget and Cristian, I can honestly say they are the sweetest with one another. I met them at the Bridal Symposium in April. They were the last couple I spoke with during Saturday's show. I'm so glad I didn't close up shop right on the dot. :)

One thing I noticed right away was the way Cristian looks, holds and talks about Bridget.

She is his world and he completes her.

For their engagement session they decided they wanted to commemorate where they had meet. With the salsa music in the background they talked for hours and fell in love.

Taco Milagro on Kirby was our first stop.

In case you don't know, milagro means miracle in spanish.

Just like that first evening.

One Year

A lot can happen in a year. Today marks the anniversary of this little blog.

119 post later we have come a long way.

I'm a year older.

The website was introduced.

The JTG STUDIO logo was born.

I went full time into my business.

Had a booth at the Bridal Symposium.

Traveled to Mexico for a couple of weddings.

Made some new friends in the photography business.

Attended several photography workshops and seminars to better myself.

Shoot some amazing weddings and had a blast living the dream!

Thank you for sticking around for a whole year. Here's to another one!

In less then two weeks, I'll be in Chicago for a wedding.

I'm excited because I haven't been since 2000 and because

I think I might get to see real, make-a-snowball-and-through-it at my brother-SNOW!! :)

You must be wondering why I haven't been blogging any photos lately. The main reason is that blogger, is doing something really weird when I try to upload them. Instead of the nice and big photos, I'm getting the tiny ones. I know you prefer the nice and big photos so I'm holding out until I can see what is wrong. : (

I've got plenty to blog about, it's just this darn blogger.

I'm so mad that, [W] news will have to wait until tomorrow. Or maybe later today. I'm going to figure this out somehow.

If not, there is always the better option of getting a beautiful, custom blog.

The Ashelynn Manor open house was fabulous this weekend. I meet so many brides-to-be.

Angela and Brent signed on the spot and are new clients for June 2009.

Angela and her sister-in-law kept asking questions and just wanted to know more about

our services. Photography was very important to her. I'm ecstatic to shoot their engagement session soon.

Where does the time go? On Saturday it will be November and then day light savings time on Sunday at 2 a.m.

Aaden Matthew: Baptism

The sacrament of baptism in the Catholic Church is the first one a child makes.

That is why I think my passion is so special.

After the Dynamo game on Saturday, Pepe and I had dinner with Lizzy and Edson.

It was so great to just talk and laugh for hours. We had finished our meal and just kept chatting. Boys, I swear they can talk...lol. :)

You know that I like to keep educating myself for you-my clients. I try to attend as many meetings at the guild and conferences. I think the best education is when another photographer gives you 10 minutes of their time and just talks shop with you. Yesterday, during the meeting I sat down with Aric from Solaris Studios. I think I learned more from Aric in those 30 minutes then from the guest speaker. Thank you so much for your time and honesty!

Melinda and Caleb: Engagement

Brought together through mutual friends, Melinda and Caleb are planning a beautiful spring wedding.

When I first met Melinda and her mom at the April Bridal Symposium

it was like we were friends.We just clicked.

Photography is a very important aspect of their wedding (I love it!)

and Melinda is an avid blog reader and commenter!!

Thanks Mel and Caleb!! After the engagement session, Pepe met us for dinner at Joe's.
We had a great time talking about their wedding, us and Pepe's reptiles.

Katie and Shelton: Wedding

The day started with some change in plans. The condos where they were supposed to get ready in were full of mold (this after they had told them that they were OK, even after Ike).

Katie and the girls got ready at her parent's house and Shelton and the guys at their friend, Rob's house.

Katie kept her cool and Shelton was all smiles when I first saw him. He was getting married!

They had opted for a first look from the very beginning, but because of time constraints and the change in plans we weren't able to do.

The day was full of smiles, tears and love.

Katie and Shelton's family were so welcoming and I felt like an old friend with a fancy camera.

The Fit

For the past two days, I've had the worse headache. Mainly in the center of my forehead.

Everytime I turn around a feel pressure in that area. I didn't want to take pain medicine

because I thought I would let it go away by itself. It didn't.

So naturally I'm feeling sick and want some attention and a hug to feel better.

I called Pepe at work to see what time he was going to come over and see me.

Usually he gets off early on Fridays so we spend the afternoon together.

I don't know what was wrong with me and I should have felt better with him just being there,

but I kept throwing a fit for any little thing. Deep down inside I felt bad but couldn't shake it.

I know that he needed to be home to take care of his new business venture

(that's another post), but instead came over to deal with my sour mood self. : )

And that's why no matter what mood I am in- good, bad, whiney, depressed, extatic

(I am just all over the place) I know he will always be the perfect fit for me.

Susan G Komen: Race for the Cure

I woke up not so bright and early on Saturday for the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure.

It was pitch black. I have been volunteering my services with them for a couple of months now

and it is wonderful to see a sea of people out there at the crack of dawn to put and end to the disease.

There is also a family walk (about half a mile) and then the 5k walk.

Fruit, water and snacks were waiting for the participants after the race/walk. All thanks to Krogers.

This is my favorite of the day. Yes, those are bras on their heads! A fun group!

Katie and Shelton: Engagement

All I can say is praise the lord their wedding is still taking place as planned in Galveston next weekend. God is BIG.

Katie and Shelton came to me through a referral of my collegue Steve Krause.

We met and immediately clicked, they booked on the spot. That's called "knowing what you want"!

Their engagement photos turn out to be bittersweet because we took them in Galveston.

I know they will treasure them even more now after Ike.

I'm sure you have heard the news that two prominent wedding venues, The Tuscany Villa of Garden Oaks and Bella Terrazza, have gone bankrupt.

I heard the news from a bride I had meet with on Saturday. She and her fiancee had paid everything upfront. This is very sad to report. Brides will be losing any upfront money that had already paid to the venues. To read more about the story go to ABC 13.

On top of that, we are trying to recover from Hurricane Ike.

You may all remember my friend Jennifer who got married in February.

Well she and Victor (her business partner and friend) started their own fashion

production and image consulting company called LABEL.

And their motto goes like this: "Fashion is who you are."

Look what Ike did!!!

It's almost been a week since the devastation that hit the Houston area.

Some people were left with nothing, others just without electricity and water.

Electricity-something we take for granted.

Until you are without it and you find yourself needing it for everyday use.

Just wanted to show you a few photos of what Ike did to my home.

In a way I can consider myself lucky knowing that it is just damage

to the house and my family is ok. We are healthy and all together.

I guess that's the only thing that matters.

When we got back from San Antonio on Sunday afternoon we found this:

This is the foyer. Shingles fell flew off the roof and water leaked through the plywood.

The water weighed down the insulation and it all came down.

Same thing happened in the guest room.

Hurricane Ike has come and gone. Thankfully we have power and water.

Unfortunately we have a giant hole in the foyer and a smaller one in the guest bedroom.

I'm bummed!! The Bridal Symposium for September has been cancelled.

So sorry for those that were going to attend. I am very disappointed about this.

The new couture albums have arrived and (in a sarcastic voice) I would've had them for the symposium but since that isn't happening....

I will be evacuating/out of the country because of the storm. Yes my parents said let's go to Monterrey....ahh!

So this weekend I had a total chick-fest. I saw House Bunny and I know it was kinda dumb

but it kept me laughing. The truth about the movie is no matter what the sisterhood is what matters. Thanks to Jose and Gil for going with me.

Later on I watched Legally Blonde I and II! Like I said chick-flick. I love Reese!

A little about this amazing couple:

They met at the pool of their apartment complex, he was with his buddies and she was with friends. They chatted and Jack offered to make her a hamburger. I remember her telling me that there was just something about Jack. Love at first sight. : )

After two incredible toast one by the best man and one by the maid of honor,

I feel like I know them so well, but I won't get into the details. :)

I've been very fortunate to find some of my couples through this intimate (by that I mean fewer vendors) bridal show.

I think you will be able to tell from the look on their faces just how much they love each other.
Nikki had the same smile all day long-an never fading smile.
The way she looked at Lu with such admiration gave me goosebumps.

Happy Labor Day! I spent the day going through some photos from this weekends weddings.

Both were amazing-and I can't believe I'm so lucky to have such wonderful couples.

I will start editing all this week and hope to post more from these two couple's special days soon.

For now here is a teaser.

First, we have one from Nikki and Lu's wedding. There was no sunlight so I had to come up with something to make their photos happen. I think this one was a killer.

Yesterday was Jessica and Jack's wedding and what fun I had with the girls. There was beautiful light right after the ceremony. Just lovely don't you think?

With all this crazy weather we've had, we thought about playing it safe.

What better location then at the Bella Terrazza.

While editing away through some photos I found this one of Colt that I took during the week.

I went to the balcony and called his name but he didn't come running like always.

Since my dad was doing so yard work he had tied him up so he won't be chasing the lawn mower.

I was able to get this shot of him and his sweet smiling face. He is always happy to see me!

Valeria: Quinceaños

This weekend was Valeria's Quinceañera in my old hometown of Pasadena.

We started off the day at her house while she was getting ready.

Traditionally the dress is supposed to be pink.

Now a days the young women can choose her own color.

I wonder where she got these because they look super comfortable. Plus you can't beat the jewels.

Don't her and her mom, Chely, look a lot alike?

The mass was at San Juan Diego Catholic Church.

The water at UH was the same color of her dress. I swear I didn't plan that.

Her shoes rocked!

Valeria and her dad had a choreographed dance. It helps and it made it more entertaining.

And of course the dance group of Chuck's Choreography.

They danced all night long, seriously until 1 a.m.

SHOOT THE BRIDAL PORTRAIT AFTER THE WEDDING!!

This way ladies we don't have to worry about getting your dress dirty and we can definitely have more fun. Just an idea!

(Don't worry Katie, you were a real trooper with your dress and the heat. The photos came out gorgeous.)

in my life has big brown eyes and golden hair like the sun.

He is my spoiled, slobbery, sweetie.

The one who always greets me with a paw-shake (I just made that up) and is always up for some cuddling.

We've had Colt for a year and a half and in December he will be turning two.

He's a big baby, seriously. He knows who is in the kitchen and starts whimpering when he knows it's my mom. Silly boy.

Oh and get this, my mom claims he is her third child-that's better then her saying he is her grandchild.

I thought it would be good to introduce my fur ball to all of you.

Here is one of the promised weddings I needed to post.

I second shot this wedding with my friend Steve of Photographic Memories.

He needed a female second-that's where I came in!

Perks of having me as your wedding photographer- I'm a girl and can be the one with you in the dressing room and you can feel comfortable while getting ready. Love it!

The wedding was at the historic Majestic Metro in downtown. Click here for the slideshow.

One of the sweetest details was this small picture frame in memory of the bride's grandparents.

Another oldie but goodie; just kidding!
I'm catching up on the slideshows. Here is one from my August 31 couple.
Their wedding is coming up real soon and I'm real excited to shoot their wedding at Ashelynn Manor.

Also, let me share their wedding website with you. Edie (Jessica's mom) told me about it and I had to check it out.
Props have to be given to Jack for making the site. For more info on his company click here.

It shows their wedding colors and invitation design. They even added some of their engagement photos. Another cool trick: RSVP through the website. Save some trees! Top notch Jack!

If your fiancee isn't html savy there are other ways to have a wedding website.

Another one of my brides keeps her friends and family updated through her site (done through mywedding.com) that offers a blog! I love it. She also posted photos and an about section of them and their wedding party.

I have seen that you can also have something similar through The Knot!

There are just so many options out there. If you have one for your wedding let me know I'd love to check it out!

Free to Succeed Tour

Tonight I attended the Free to Succeed Tour and let me tell you that I learned so much,

laughed really hard and made some wonderful new friends.

David Jay and Jasmine Star shared a wealth of information about the industry.

David is a BUSINESS MAN- not only is he a great wedding photographer, but the one behind the slide show program I use called Showit Web. He has a great philosophy on business and the best part is how he shares it with the entire world.

There is only one way to describe Jasmine....FABULOUS! She is a women after my own heart, her dress tonight was from ZARA!! Love it. Besides her impeccable style, her heart is pure gold and to top it off with a cherry-her wedding photography absolutely ROCKS!

It amazes me how young they are and how incredibly successful they both are. I look up to both of them as great mentors. I hope to be as successful when I'm their age.

On Saturday, Pepe, my brother Beto and I went to the circus. Not just any circus, but the Ringling Brothers. Just wanted to share some photos from my point and shoot. FYI-this Nikon camera is not so good and I am really considering getting another one. Any recommendations?

Trouble in Paradise

Here are the remaining photos from the Cancun trip.

First are some from our stop at a lil shop and then our tour of Chichen Itza. You can no longer go up the pyramid-I did back in the day when you still could ;)

Loved all the colors of the souvenirs.

This gentlemen was carving actual souvenirs that they sell there.

My aunt and uncle (also my godparents) and my parents.

He supports the 'stros----all the way in Yucatan. Go 'stros.

Not even 10 minutes later....you could tell that Hurricane Dolly had an effect on this.

Paradise...in the hotel

We have spent most of the days in the hotel. We've been to Cancun several times so when we say we are going on vacation we literally mean vacation. Waking up late, eating too much and lounging around the pool/beach. Here are some photos from these past days.

A nice reflection of the hotel from the pool.

I love how you can see the beach a lit up by the moon.

They have shows every night. This one was a Michael Jackson impersonater.

They also have many different restaurants to choose from.

This night we went to the Japanese restaurant and watched the hibachi.

This was my FAVORITE part.

And me in the elevator, I keep using reflections to get photos. It works.

In paradise

I know I have been out of town a lot lately. I got back from Monterrey on Sunday night. On Monday and Tuesday, I was busy getting some last minute things together for my family vacation to Cancun. I was in such a hurry I forgot to change the answering machine on my phone, but please leave me a message or write me an email. I will get back to you through email during the trip. Just bare with me. I will be back in the office on Thursday July 24.

For now here are these photos of my 1st day here.

Sans wisdom

Today was a horrible day.

It started off like any other day here in Monterrey with my mom

running around doing errands and promising that we would do something

fun. We usually come to fix business problems or deal with the rentees.

(I know that's not a word, but that's OK).

After that we went to the dentist so my brother could get his braces checked out.

After that the fun began. I knew there was something wrong with my wisdom tooth

and that eventually it was going to come out. I just wasn't expecting it to be today.

Into the horrible orange chair I went. I'm not going to lie and tell you I didn't cry.

I am a big baby after all. I don't remember hurting so much the last time they took out the

left one.

She drugged me up with anesthesia first but when she was pulling I could feel it.

After it was all said and done the dentist said that the tooth was very close to the nerve.

OUCH and she might have touched it....I'm praying the sensation in my mouth will come back soon.

I do want to thank my mom and brother for taking care of me and making me some soup.

The best part of today was getting some extra special treatment. : )

I couldn't say thank you to the dentist, because I wasn't going to be truthful. So I just smiled at her.

No photo, because who wants to see my bloody wisdom tooth, but here is a picture I found on google.

I'm still in Monterrey and I apologize for not posting any photos but it has been a rainy mess.

It rained all the way from Houston to here and hasn't stopped.

I still have until Sunday to try to get some photos.

For now, here are some portraits I did with Valeria. Her quinceaños is coming up in early August, but she wanted some casual glamour shots prior to the big party. I know that

her and her mom have been planning every detail to perfection.

We took all of the photos in my old neighborhood of Pasadena (Pas-a-get-down-dena.....haha).

Amazing what you can find just a couple of blocks down from your house.

A couple of weeks ago I attended the Sallee's I Shoot People Tour.

I learned so much from these great photographers.

It was really inspiring to see what they have accomplished in their 5 years in business.

I bought some textures and have been playing around with them.

The first photo is without the texture and the second is with the texture.

I think it adds to the photo---makes them look like fine art paintings.

Here they are...the long awaited photos of Adriana and Jaime's wedding in Monterrey.

Before the unveiling, a few reasons why their wedding rocked:

1. Hair and make-up were on time.

2. They decided to see each other before the ceremony. This allots more time for romantic photos of them.

4. Adriana and Jaime worked it out the entire day, such ROCKSTARS!

Jessica and Jack: Engagement

How amazing it is to see and witness the love between two souls.

That is why I LOVE meeting couples, especially the ones who are over flowing with googly eyes.

The engagement session is the time I get to spend with the couple and get to know them in a more relaxed environment and more importantly they get to know me and how I work with the camera.
That is why I encourage that all couples to have a session.

This super cute, in love couple is getting married in August at the beautiful Ashelynn Manor.

I can't wait to see all the details they have been working on.

We started off at their apartment complex where they meet at the pool.

We continued to the setting of their first date...Agora.

Then to the nearby Menil Museum, where we shoot around the location.

And just something I was able to capture! : )

Every now and then, I get to second shot with photographers in the Houston area. This time I had the pleasure to be shooting with Akil Bennett. Thanks for having me Akil.

Everything about this wedding was beautiful and it ran so smoothly. And probably the most important thing was the amazing light we had the entire day. From the home where the bride was getting ready to the sweet light we had during the portraits. This is just a sneak peak, because there were too many great photos to choose from. Our Anniversary

Today is a special day, it marks another anniversary in the books for me and my novio.

5 YEARS!

In these five years, I can say that we have:

learned from each other
fought over silly things
grown to respect our differences
come to understand each other better
laughed at my clumsiness (he laughs, I pout)
cultivated our individual obsessions (his movies, my photography)
invented a million and one pet name's for each other

The list could go on, but as we all know- you learn something new everyday.

Thanks amor, for always being there to encourage me to do whatever you know I want to do.

Jealousy-A compliment

Earlier today I received a message through facebook from a high school friend.

This is what she said, "I just want to say I am wayyyy jealous of your career. That is awesome."

At first I was taken back with her statement, but as I thought about it I knew why.

How many people out there can truly say they have fun at work? I can honestly say that when I am shooting it is pure fun. I am cracking jokes with my new friends or making them laugh with my clumsiness.

The best part is that I hardly feel like I am working, and that is why I love what I do.

What better job then getting to meet new friends and sharing their most treasured moments with them. That is why I am honored when you ask me to be your photographer, truly honored. I thank you for trusting me with your precious memories.

Graduation Party!

Last week I had the absolute pleasure of photographing an amazing graduation party for three beautiful girls. The three hostesses had a movie themed party, where they watched movies until midnight and then some continued the night with the first showing of Indiana Jones.

Susan G Komen: Pink Ribbon Reception

You may all have heard of the Susan G Komen and their vision to a world without breast cancer.

Last week, I was invited to photograph a fashion show called the Pink Ribbon Reception: Divas, Dames & Dudes. The event took place at the Macy's in Galleria showcasing the summer line of casual to evening wear.

There were professional models and, but most importantly there were models who are survivors.

Here are some photos from that special night that raised money to get one step closer to finding a cure.

Quirks and Shoes

We all have them-some more so then others.

Some can be adorable and cute, others can just be a pain.

As uncontrollable as can be I have the one that finds me on the ground more then I'd like.

Yes, you have read right. I have the tendency to fall. No matter what shoes I am

wearing or where I am walking to-I simply just fall.

Sometimes more graciously then others. I usually make a scene to get someone's attention (don't judge-I'm a kid at heart).

Sometimes it happens in the worst situations-like in front of a client...woops.

That was the situation I found myself in last week during a senior shoot I will post in the upcoming days.

None the less this is what happened.

As I was backing up from helping my client onto a ledge, I wasn't looking (go figure :p )

and one leg stepped into a deep hole full of nasty, junky water.

No joking I feel straight on my behind-camera and all. Ouch!

I didn't know what had happened and I couldn't make a big scene in front of her.

I put on this BIG smile and got out of the hole. I ended up jumping around to take the shots.

I cleaned my foot in the car and was lucky that my brother keeps his cleats in my car.

I had to do the entire session in soccer cleats. NICE huh?

Daniel: Senior Rep

I remember seeing him for the first time when I was in kindergarten.

His black curls and black eyes that told imaginative stories for his young age.

Now at the age of 18, the curls are gone but you can still see the twinkle in his eyes.

Danny's mom was my kindergarten teacher, and almost twenty years later I still remain in contact with her.

In a way, I am still the five-year old who had a lot of questions.

Congratulations Danny. Good luck on your college decision.

Travis: Senior Rep

Since there was TAKS testing going on and the seniors didn't have to be in school until 11 a.m., we took advantage of that and had a morning photo fest.

Ana Celina & Gabriel: Wedding

Ana Celina and Gabriel's wedding was a destination wedding for me. I headed down to Reynosa, Mexico for their special day.
It is just crossing the border from McAllen. This wedding was full of laughter and smiles. They definitely enjoyed themselves.

I sent the bride the link to the slideshow on Monday and by that afternoon I had an email (from Jamaica). She loved the photos and couldn't wait to see the rest. Thanks for having me you guys.

Out of the office

Hello folks. Just wanted to let you all know that I will be out of the office starting tomorrow Friday through Sunday.

Rachael: Senior Rep

Meet the lovely Rachael, a senior at Cy-Falls High. We did her senior portraits around the Heights area yesterday and it was quite interesting. We thought we were going to get rained out and that didn't stop us. Her shoe broke and that didn't stop us. And after multiple people honking at her (you will see why in a little bit) she still kept her cool and we had great time.

Thanks for being such a trooper yesterday after the shoe incident. You and your mom are just sweet as can be. Thanks for following us around Laurie! : )

Ashelynn Manor

Yesterday I had the pleasure of having a booth at the Ashelynn Manor Open House. There were other vendors on display and tours of the property going on for the interested brides and grooms. There was unbelievable food samples. Tessy and Kevin were so welcoming and I have to say the atmosphere was so relaxing and enjoyable. Thank you for a wonderful Sunday afternoon.

Bridal Symposium: Day 2

The weekend was a blast with the Bridal Symposium going on at Reliant Center. I had the pleasure of meeting many super nice brides, grooms and their families. Thanks to everyone who stopped by to get information on all the wonderful things we have to offer along with out great customer service. You have a question, just ask!

Bridal Symposium: Day 1

Today was day 1 of the Bridal Symposium and I want to thank everyone who came by the booth to ask for information, look at the albums, check out our canvas wrap, watch the slideshow or just say HI! I appreciate all your kind words about my work and hope we will be able to work together.

Quick reminder about the special: It ends tomorrow, book at the show and get a 10% discount of the collections. Book an appointment for the in studio consultation before midnight tomorrow and receive a 5% discount when you book during the appointment.

Before going to Vegas, one of my favorite photographers, [b]ecker posted on his [b] school that he would be taking head shots of all the photographers that met up by the Paris hotel at a certain time. Even though there was going to be a lecture 30 minutes later, this was something I could not miss. Of course there was several photographers there. People kept stopping to see who were circling and why. Like if it were someone famous. Well he is, in our world. I liked it so much it is my new photo and you will see it here, on my website, my facebook and myspace. What do you think of me on this side of the camera?

Bridal Symposium

The Bridal Symposium is this weekend and I want to invite everyone to come see and visit with me at my booth. At the booth you will be able to see the albums, gallery wraps and collections that I offer.

Lisa: Portrait

During Easter weekend, Lisa and I hung out in Monterrey. You can read how we met here.

They finished building like a riverwalk type deal in downtown and they have little boats for tours and waterfalls that kept splashing the camera...yikes. What struck out most was a wall when we were headed back to the car. I ran over there and said Lisa let's take some pictures. She looked at me kinda funny but I have to say she is a natural. Thanks Lisa.

While in Vegas I had the opportunity to attend the Blu Domain party at the Parisian Palace. This home is crazy insane. Something you would see like on Cribs...haha. I also got to meet the fabulous Cesar and Tanya Perez from Dallas. They were a hoot. Here we are at the party in the foto cabina. I definitely recommend one of these booths for your wedding. It is a great souvenir for your guest, plus you get all the digital files. Check them out!

WPPI-The best photography conference

If I had to choose one conference to attend, with out a doubt I would jump up and down like a little kid and scream WPPI! When I first arrived at the hotel I had mixed feelings, mostly because I was by myself (Katherine was arriving until the morning) and I had never stayed at a hotel alone. Yes I am a BIG mama's girl! I rushed to my room, dropped off my things and ran to the event of the evening: YOUNG GUNS! The two-hour lecture/motivational speeches were incredible. There they were, 12 amazing young photographers who at some point had been in my shoes. They spoke about what made them unique in the business and how to set yourself apart just by being YOU! After that I knew I was in for a great three days. The rest of the days I attended classes taught by some of the greatest like Mike Colon, Catherine Hall, Tomas Munoz, Joe Buissink, Dennis Reggie and Jesh de Rox. On top of the classes they also have the biggest and baddest trade show where hundreds of vendors are waiting for the bees to go straight to the hunny. There was definitely some swarming going on. There are just so many you don't even know where to start. Probably the best thing that happens at WPPI is networking with others who share the same passion. I met some great new friends and I know we will be keeping in touch. I met more Houston photographers in Vegas then I had here. Go figure. It was quite an experience and I came back with so many ideas that I hope you stick around to see. One thing is for sure-I am going to WPPI 2009. It is going to become the thing to do every year. Here are some photos from the convention.

As you can see I met some of the industry's young photogs. They were so sweet and they definitely don't let the fame go to their heads, you know this when they remember your name. SWEET! The bottom right photo is from the 30 second photoshoot with [b]ecker. He made an announcement on his blog about meeting up and he would take a headshoot. About 60-70 photographers were there and I was lucky enough to get shoot by [b]. We'll see how it comes out.

Next year's conference will be at the MGM. It seems we have outgrown Paris and Ballys.

Las Vegas, Nevada x 2

Now that I am finally home I can share with you all the fun I had while in Vegas. The first few days I spent getting to know some of the KDX sisters among other wonderful people. I must say that we instantly hit it off. From the bottom of my photography-loving heart thank you to Olga, Ivet, Yvonne, Rocio, Rosa and Omar for making my Vegas trip so memorable. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, Hoover Dam and then lunch and dinner again (my we sure ate a lot) were great! To show you that your efforts to make me feel at home paid off here are some photos. I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I enjoyed your company.

Stay tuned for tomorrow- a WPPI review and some photos of me with some of the best photogs. Can you tell that I had a blast?!

I got back early this morning ( 2 a.m.) from a wonderful trip to WPPI. Let me just tell you that I meet so many wonderful photographers who are willing to share and help out. I am still overloaded with information. The blog on that will have to wait because I am off to Monterrey for the Easter Break. Las Vegas, Nevada

I made it to Vegas last night, ot should I say this morning. No one ever thinks that the computers at the airport will go down when they are trying to fly out, but that is exactly what happened to me. I arrived for my 7 p.m. flight two hours ahead to check-in my bags and get told to get in line because nobody is going anywhere and that the computers were down. Great way to start this trip I thought. I don't like it when there is something wrong when I travel, especially the airport. After waiting in one line and then seeing that there was no order and and people were checking in their bags I started getting frustrated. By that time it was 20 minutes until my flight took off and I hadn't check-in my bag. I ran to security to see if I could just board the plane with my bags, but they have the "no fluids after I don't know how many ounces" rule and they wanted to through away all my hand cream, perfume and mousse. At least the security lady let me go back outside with all my "fluids". I ended up in another line that was not moving and when I saw domestic flights being checked-in in the international line I went over there. My flight had already left but they gave me a ticket for the 10:45 p.m. flight. Now all I had to do was wait about two and a half hours, but sitting down of course. I went to go get dinner, feel asleep for a little bit, people watched and then waited somemore. Everyone had different problems, some had been waiting for their flight since 5, others had been just put on stand by and never were lucky enough to get on a flight. The one that stuck out the most was an anxious man waiting for his son fly in from Monterrey. If he didn't make it to the connection flight they wouldn't be able to fly to Las Vegas together. When the son finally made it (I knew it was him because he was running as fast as he could and then his dad came out of the airplane and said that's my son) and reunited with his family it really touched my heart. It is so nice to travel with family and to know that someone is waiting for you. I have only been away from my family for less then a day and I have to admit I am a little homesick. I love you guys!

Once I boarded my plane I saw that they had given me a first class ticket. Not that it made up for the wait but the seats were super comfortable and there was great leg room. I slept the entire time. A special thanks to Ivet, my KDX sister for picking me up at 12:30 a.m. because of everything that happened.

On another note: I will not have internet connection for the rest of the time that I am here I think, so I will blog the rest of my adventure, with photos I promise, when I return to Houston.

I will be in Houston for Thursday and then I leave that night to Monterrey for the Easter Holiday so bare with me. It will be worth the wait. For those of you that are on Spring Break-enjoy!

Happy Leap Year!

Well today is an extra day that we get every four years. For some people, like myself, see this as just another day. MSN.com has this to say about Leap Year. "It's pretty basic. The pattern of our lives depends on it: The current calendar needs the extra hours to stay aligned with Earth's orbit. Otherwise, we'd have winter in July — in about 10,000 years."

Well then, as if the Houston weather wasn't all messed up already! So I hope everyone has at least thought about the extra day and done something out of the ordinary. I plan on doing something next time around, I have a couple years to decide what, seeing how the day is almost over. Happy Friday to you and Good Luck in March...many new things to look forward to.

Edit: The day ended unfortunate. Pepe and I went to broomball (like hockey but with tennis shoes) with his friends and he ended up hitting the wall with his shoulder. He isn't a quitter so when I saw him exiting the rink I knew something was wrong. He couldn't move his arm so I took him to the emergency room. Ends up he bruised severly, but thank God nothing was broken. Now he just has to rest. So I guess leap year was something out of the ordinary this time around.

WPPI in Las Vegas!

I am so excited to announce that I will be attending the WPPI conference in Vegas March 15-19. WPPI stands for Wedding and Portrait Photographers International. Basically education, networking and the largest trade show for photographers!

Reasons that get me jumping:

1. Learning new and cool things to better the business.

2. Mingling with among world renowed photographers.

3. Being able to attend the tradeshow and seeing the latest products.

4. Going to Vegas (I have never been).

5. Meeting sisters from the Vegas Chapter.

But the most amazing thing of all is...

COMING HOME AND BEING ABLE TO SHARE ALL OF THIS WITH MY WONDERFUL CLIENTS! YaY!
